The Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment has moved its October annual conference for Financial Planners online.

The programme will spotlight Financial Planning best practice from a variety of global perspectives.

The conference will take place on 13 and 14 October and include an online award and social evening in an attempt to replicate the networking element of the conference.

The Personal Financial Society and the CII have both cancelled multiple events because of the Coronavirus pandemic, including postponing its annual conference and graduation ceremony until 2021. The PFS plans to go ahead with a series of face to face Investment Roadshows in November.

The CISI conference will include a session focused on being a “fully virtual Financial Planner” to consider how the industry has adapted to the new circumstances and more virtual ways of working.

Jacqueline Lockie CFP Chartered FCSI, CISI head of Financial Planning, said: “Wherever we are in the world, Financial Planners and their clients go through many of the same experiences and have similar wants and needs. This year we are moving our Financial Planning conference online with a redefined global perspective. 

"Having a state-of-the-art platform providing us the opportunity for delegate interaction and debates is really exciting. We have collaborated with the CISI Conference Committee, Financial Planning Forum Committee and CFP professional bodies in the FPSB network to bring lots of new speakers who will share their best practice advancements.

In a message to delegates she said: “Our speakers will be changing tack in the style of their delivery too in order for us to gain the most out of our time together.  Expect to be challenged and stimulated. The conference is staggered across two days to allow a more flexible structure for delegates both in the UK and around the world. 

“Given the year we have all had it will be a wonderful opportunity for us all to get together online. We will celebrate what really makes us human and embrace the chance for meaningful debate and discussion. I can’t wait!”
