The Financial Planning profession has seen a major drop in confidence over the past two years, according to the Financial Planning Today annual reader survey.

Just 45% of Financial Planners feel positive about prospects over the coming 12 months, with 23% feeling negative, according to the survey.

While last year just over half of our readers were feeling positive about the profession’s prospects, in 2021, despite the pandemic, 86% of Financial Planners were positive.

The latest survey also saw clients expressing concern to their planners.

About half (45%) of readers said they have had clients contact them this year with cost-of-living concerns or worries about having insufficient income in retirement.

Clients close to or in retirement were those most likely to be sharing concerns with their Financial Planners.
