An expanded ESG portfolio and new client acquisition has pushed Chartered Financial Planner firm The RU Group past a milestone £600m in assets under management.

The £600m milestone was hit at the end of September.

The RU Group said the growth was driven by new client acquisition and key strategic partnerships to expand its range of ESG investments on offer to clients.

Ian Browne, head of advice at The RU Group, said the record level of assets under management represents a huge milestone for the business.

He said: “We understand clients are increasingly looking for socially conscious or sustainable investing options within wealth management and financial advice. These investment strategies aim to combine financial return with positive social value, that’s why we have this year partnered with EBI Portfolios and Invesco to expand the ESG options we can offer to meet client demand.”

In June, The RU Group partnered with EBI Portfolios to offer Earth Portfolios, where every £1m invested translates to a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to charging 12.7m smartphones.

In September The RU Group also entered a partnership with Invesco to provide a range of ESG solutions including active and passive, equities, fixed income, real estate, multi-asset, thematic and custom strategies.

Mr Browne said: “Over the last 18 months, we have undergone a restructure to bring all our existing divisions into a single brand identity, sharing values across one unified business. The RU Group has held Chartered Financial Planner status from the Chartered Insurance Institute for five years. It comprises Russell Ulyatt Financial Services, Greenhalgh Financial Services, Hart Shaw Financial Planning and Shevill Parkes (Financial Services).

The group has offices in Nottingham, Derby and Sheffield and employs over 50 people across the region.
