A Financial Planner has paid tribute to a leading surgeon who lost his life in a drowning tragedy.
Stuart Calder, 52, was one of three people who drowned after reportedly trying to save children caught in a rip current at the end of October.
The father-of-four was said to have run into the sea to help a group of boys who were struggling in the waves, while his horrified wife had to watch from the shore. It happened in Cornwall.
The youngsters who ran into trouble survived the episode but Mr Calder and two other adults perished.

Mr Calder operated on Francis Klonowski FIFP, CFPCM, last December and the Financial Planner highlighted the surgeon's work as an example for planners to follow in an IFP article earlier this year.
In the winning entry for letter of the month in the latest issue of Financial Planner magazine, which came out this week, Mr Klonowski expressed his shock and sadness at what had happened.
The owner of Klonowski & Co said: "The drowning tragedy in Cornwall was no more than a news item at first. By Monday morning it had assumed more relevance, as one of the three who died was thought to be from Leeds.
"Then that afternoon, the man was named on the (radio) news as Stuart Calder, knee surgeon.
"This was the Stuart Calder who had performed my knee replacement last December, the one I was due to see again soon. Less than an hour earlier I had been talking to someone about how he would surely be pleased at how well the knee has recovered at my follow up.
"Fortunately I was only a short drive from home when I heard, because I spent the rest of the journey – and indeed most of the afternoon – in a state of shock."
He said he learnt a lot from Mr Calder and wrote a blog for the IFP to highlight how planners could learn from his approach. He said he had provided "an object lesson in how to deal with clients".
He said his knee had been pain free for the first time in five years thanks to his surgery.
Mr Klonowski said: "I was privileged to have been treated by one of the leading knee surgeons in the north. What a pity I never had chance to thank him in person."
