The most complained about advisory and finance firms for the first half of 2014 have been revealed this morning.

The highest number of new complaints to the Financial Ombudsman Service about life and pensions was against Prudential, with 330 cases, followed by Phoenix Group which had 327, and Aviva Life & Pensions, with 230.
The top seven was completed by Royal London Mutual Insurance Society, with 197
Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada UK, with 186, Legal & General, with 175 and Friends Provident, with 174.

The highest percentage of complaints resolved in the consumers' favour in the life and pensions category was led by Nationwide Building Society with 43, followed by Scottish Equitable with 40.
In terms of investments the highest percentage of complaints resolved in the consumers' favour was The Royal Bank of Scotland, at 65.
Second was National Westminster Bank, at 60, followed by Barclays Bank, at 57, HSBC at 55 and St. James's Place Wealth Management, at 55.
Sesame topped the list of advisory firms with the most complaints (197), with St James's Place (77) second and Openwork (73) third.
The top five was made up by Personal Touch (55) and Hargreaves Lansdown (48).
The figures published today show that the ombudsman took on 191,129 new cases in total in the first half of 2014.
This included a huge number of PPI complaints.
