Two research projects in association with the Financial Planning Standards Board have highlighted how valuable CFP certification can be to Financial Planners.
An Australian research firm called Comparator Business Benchmarking invited the FPSB to submit questions which could be included in the firm's annual benchmarking survey of Australian financial services firms.
It found 57 per cent of businesses believed their revenue increased as a result of employing CFP professionals and 65 per cent felt client relationships were improved by having a greater number of CFP professionals in their firm.
Some 70 per cent of businesses felt retention was improved if the firm supported advisers gaining CFP certification and another 70 per cent felt firms should actively promote gaining CFP certification.

Almost 80 per cent of businesses believed their corporate risk and complaint levels were reduced by having CFP professionals in the firm.
The FPSB has suggested other member territories carry out similar benchmarking research and will be speaking with members on the topic this month.
Meanwhile, research by Cerulli Associates questioned 178 CFP professinals in Austria and almost 600 in Germany on how satisfied they were with their certification.
Almost three quarters of Financial Planners in Germany were satisfied or significantly satisfied with their certification while 42 per cent reported an increase in their client base within 12 months of certification.
In Austria, 60 per cent were satisfied or significantly satisfied and 55 per cent reported an increase in their client base while 62 per cent reported increases in compensation.
