South Pole challenge begins tomorrow for Financial Planner
A cancer survivor is set to embark on an epic trek tomorrow in Antarctica as he aims to reach the South Pole.
Patrick McIntosh, 58, a Financial Planner, has overcome three types of cancer since 2012, and, through the adventure, he hopes to raise £220,000 for charities helping sufferers.
IFP corporate member Aegon is supporting Mr McIntosh's challenge, which is being undertaken with a polar guide who helped Prince Harry.
Conrad Dickinson assisted the prince on 'Walking with the Wounded'.

Their journey is scheduled to commence, weather dependent, with a flight into Antarctica tomorrow, landing on an ice runway.
After several days' acclimatisation at Union Glacier including a mini expedition, Patrick and Conrad will fly to a drop-off point which is 222 kilometres from the South Pole.
Mr McIntosh, a director at KMG, is raising money for three charities - Bowel Cancer UK, Prostate Cancer UK, and The Voice of the Listener and Viewer. So far he has amassed £45,000.
He said: "After my experience with cancer, I have realised the importance of early diagnosis in order to live a long and healthy life.
"I want to prove that it is possible to live a normal life after cancer...as long as we can all learn to recognise the signs and symptoms and therefore get diagnosed earlier.
"I have chosen to support three fantastic charities which do very important work contributing to this, as well as to reach as many people as possible via lectures and presentations.
"We aim to raise £222,000 (£1,000 for each kilometre) for these important causes, not least because we wish to magnify the kind donations given to cover the substantial cost of this ambitious expedition.
"A huge thank you to everyone who has already given to Patrick's South Pole Challenge. Please give what you can - it really will make a huge difference."
Before he was diagnosed with prostate cancer and, in between treatments for bowel and skin cancer, he climbed Kilimanjaro. In the past he has also sailed across the Atlantic and made countless touring trips across the Alps.
