Scammers are targeting CISI members by claiming they can receive sponsorship.
The ruse was revealed by the CISI in a warning on Twitter yesterday.
The professional body, which oversees the Certified Financial Planner accreditation, tweeted: “We are aware of a recent scam with recruitment companies advising that you can receive sponsorship if you pay a sum of money upfront.
“Candidates should only book directly with us or one of our accredited training providers, schools or their employer.”
Asked about the scam yesterday the CISI had no further information.
