National Financial Planning firm Wren Sterling has added £300m in assets under management with three acquisitions, nudging up total assets to £9bn.

In Scotland, Wren Sterling has completed the acquisition of Perth-based JLS Associates, which was founded in 2006 by Gordon Smith.

Mr Smith has joined Wren Sterling’s Glasgow team. The acquisition was first announced in October.

Kent-based Investment Choices Wealth Management was founded by Chartered Financial Planner Gary Bodle. Mr Bodle and client service manager Denise Pannell have joined Wren Sterling and Investment Choices’ Tenterden office remains open.

Cotswolds-based Broadway Financial Planning was acquired by Wren Sterling on 1 February for an undisclosed sum. Certified Financial Planners Keri Carter and Hetty Hyde-Durrant have both transferred to Wren Sterling, along with Paraplanner Rebecca Daly.

Between them the three acquisitions have added around 520 clients for the fast-growing Financial Planning firm.

James Twining, CEO at Wren Sterling said: “Wren Sterling had a strong year for acquisitions in 2024 and it’s great to get 2025 underway so decisively. Through these deals we are able to improve our client offering for both new and existing clients and bring hugely talented people into the group for the benefit of all.” 

He added that the firm expects to complete more acquisitions this year and continues to look for more suitable Financial Planner firms.

The Wren Sterling Group, which also includes DFM business Magnus, is backed by New York-based private equity firm Lightyear Capital following a secondary management buyout in December 2021.

The national firm has 13 UK offices and made three acquisitions in 2024 including In Focus Group, Kent-based insurance broker Howe Maxted Group, and Newcastle-under-Lyme firm TW Financial Planning.
