11,000 HSBC staff to train as Certified Financial Planners
More than 11,000 HSBC financial advisers, planners and wealth managers are to be trained towards becoming Certified Financial Planners.
HSBC staff across the world will be put on this career path as part of a deal between the bank and global body the Financial Planning Standards Board.
Mark Glover, HSBC’s head of Financial Planning and wealth management, said: “HSBC embraces the highest standards in Financial Planning across its global network and our partnership with FPSB supports our work to create a Financial Planning culture focused on serving clients who are looking for holistic advice.
“Through FPSB, HSBC employees will have access to education courses, career path qualifications and CFP certification, which are great additions to the training and development opportunities we already provide.”
FPSB, owner of the international Certified Financial Planner certification program outside the United States, and HSBC, announced the partnership at its global member meeting in Kuala Lumpur.
Noel Maye, FPSB chief executive, said: “Our strategic partnership with HSBC will strengthen global recognition of CFP certification, increase the public’s access to competent and ethical advisers, and promote the financial planning profession.
“Through providing content and certifications at the financial adviser and Financial Planner levels for the global HSBC network, FPSB and its member organisations expect to substantially grow the number of CFP professionals in support of FPSB’s goal of 250,000 CFP professionals in 40 territories by 2025.”
He added: “Both organisations are looking forward to the collaborative potential that exists in the future, and are pleased to partner to promote financial planning as a profession globally.”
HSBC and FPSB will kick off the global partnership with pilot programs in several FPSB territories in 2017, including France and India.
In 2018, the partners will expand the effort to additional countries and territories, opening up new markets for Financial Planning and CFP certification.
