Former Centrica chairman Rick Haythornthwaite will take over as the £775,000 a year chairman of NatWest Group in April when current chairman Sir Howard Davies steps down.

Royal Bank of Scotland, the part nationalised bank baled out by the government, plans to rebrand under the NatWest name later this year.

The Royal Bank of Scotland Group has appointed Alison Rose as executive director and chief executive officer.
