Chancellor Jeremy Hunt unveiled a wave of pension and regulatory reforms in his Mansion House speech last night, going further than many expected.

Chancellor Jeremy Hunt will today promise “evolutionary not revolutionary” pension reforms to unlock capital for high-growth businesses and boost outcomes for pension savers.

This year’s Budget has baffled me more than most. I still cannot get my head around why a seemingly highly conservative Chancellor Jeremy Hunt threw out a decade of pensions taxation policy and effectively said “to hell with it.”

Today’s Budget brought a generally positive reaction from Financial Planners and industry professionals, especially on pensions, but there was disappointment that many reforms would only help a minority of people.
