The Bank of England has increased its base rate from 0.1% to 0.25% today, the first rise in rates for three years.

The Bank of England’s Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) has held interest rates at 0.1%, and stuck to its £895bn asset purchase target, despite inflation fears.

The Bank of England has held the Bank Rate at 0.75% as it cut forecasts for UK growth over the next two years.
