Chancellor Jeremy Hunt has announced a cut to employees’ National Insurance from 10% to 8% from April as one of a raft of measures announced in his Spring Budget today.

HMRC has extended to 5 April 2025 the opportunity for taxpayers to fill gaps in their National Insurance record from April 2006.

The Treasury confirmed this afternoon that it will scrap the 1.25 percentage point rise in National Insurance introduced in April.

Chancellor Sajid Javid has announced a cut to National Insurance from April which should benefit 31m taxpayers.
