The Online Safety Bill has been approved by the House of Lords.

The Online Safety Bill, seen as one of the best ways to tackle online financial scams, has been delayed to the autumn but will now include protections for bona fide journalism.

The Government has been given the go ahead to revoke EU financial services regulations and replace them with new UK rules, following inclusion of a planned bill in today’s Queen’s Speech.

Social media companies and search engines will be responsible for preventing paid-for scam adverts on their platforms under a new amendment to the draft Online Safety Bill.
