The Pension Schemes Act received Royal Assent today creating new laws covering areas including defined benefit scheme protections, pensions dashboards and climate change.

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has responded to a bid from former Pensions Minister Stephen Timms MP to make pension guidance appointments automatic.

Stephen Timms MP, chair of the Work and Pensions Committee, has submitted an amendment to the Pension Schemes Bill going through Parliament which would make pension guidance appointments automatic.

The Pension Schemes Bill - deferred from the last Parliament - has returned to the legislature with a raft of changes planned including new legislation to advance the Pensions Dashboard.
