The High Court has ruled in favour of the FCA against the director of a company which ran an illegal care home unauthorised collective investment scheme (UCIS).

Leeds-based finance firm boss Francis Wainwright has been sentenced to seven years in prison after admitting running a £20m Ponzi scheme which cheated elderly and vulnerable investors.

The FCA has urged members of the public who lost money in an unauthorised scheme called the Churchgate Trading Syndicate and who may be eligible to receive some of their money back, to get in contact with the FCA.

The mastermind of a £115m Ponzi scheme has been sentenced to 14 years and six months in prison, according to the BBC.
