The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) has punished four firms for making nearly 350,000 illegal pension cold calls since the ban on cold calling was instigated in 2019.

The Information Commissioner’s Office has issued a fine to CPS Advisory Ltd for making more than 100,000 unauthorised direct marketing calls to people about their pensions.

A group of fraudsters were jailed for a combined 17 years and nine months today for their part in an elaborate wine investment scam which conned nearly £1m out of investors, many of which were elderly and vulnerable.

Pensions cold calling is set to finally be banned on 9 January, a top Treasury Minister has confirmed.
