A group of MPs has called for auto-enrolment pensions for self-employed workers to get more people saving for retirement.

Data from today’s Wealth and Assets Survey from the Office of National Statistics has shown that the self-employed continue to invest in property over pensions for their retirement.

In one fell swoop the Chancellor has changed the rules of the game for the self-employed.

More than 500,000 people are continuing to work past retirement age as ’silver entrepreneurs’ and the growing numbers require a new approach to auto-enrolment and pensions policy, according to the provider which carried out the research.
