7IM hires 3rd chief investment officer in a year
Seven Investment Management (7IM) has hired its third chief investment officer in a year.
Martyn Surguy will replace Ian Jensen-Humphreys who took up the role in November last year, following the departure of Chris Darbyshire.
Prior to joining 7IM, Mr Surguy was head of investment management at Credit Suisse UK London.
Previous roles include CIO, Private Wealth Management Division for EMEA at Morgan Stanley.
He also spent 16 years at Morgan Grenfell/Deutsche Bank, latterly as CIO international and head of portfolio management UK.
Tom Sheridan, chief executive of 7IM, said: “We are thrilled to have Martyn on board, bringing a breadth of CIO and wealth management experience, alongside a very client focused approach, which was absolutely key.
“His multi-asset background is a perfect fit for 7IM, whilst his experience of also managing equity portfolio management teams will bring additional expertise.
“Martyn joins an exceptional senior team to take us forward as we begin a new chapter in 7IM’s evolution.
“He joins Terence Moll, who came on board last month as chief strategist, alongside Haig Bathgate, head of portfolio management following our acquisition of Tcam Asset Management.
“I would also like to thank Ian Jensen-Humphreys, whose excellent stewardship over the last year as acting CIO has given us the time and space to conduct a rigorous search and who remains a huge asset to our senior team.”
Mr Surguy said: “Having spent most of my working life in the wealth management division of large integrated banks, the appeal of working for a smaller dedicated investment manager with a broad investment offering, was huge.
“I am excited to join a company where discretionary wealth management is at its core.
“I believe that the quality of the investment team is exceptional which, allied to a deep rooted commitment to do things simply and well, gives me great confidence for what we can achieve in the future.”
