7IM to introduce rugby players to financial services
Seven Investment Management, a sponsor of the Institute of Financial Planning, will be taking a break from Financial Planning on 22 August to help a team of rugby players.
Justin Urquhart-Stewart, marketing director, will be accompanying 50 players from the Harlequin Rugby Club as they explore opportunities outside of rugby.
The day is part of the Harlequin's career development policy and the players, which include England captain Chris Robshaw, will be visiting places such as a shipbroker, insurer and market maker.
Mr Urquhart-Stewart will be giving the players a candid talk about financial services and why the City is so important to the economy.
Players will also meet with past Harlequins alumni such as Brian Moore to discuss how they made the transition from the rugby pitch.
The day will end with a trading game to let players put their newfound knowledge to the test.
Glen Steven from Seven Investment Management said: "This is something Harlequins had been looking to do for a while in planning for the futures of their sporting players. We suggested a tour of the city and they welcomed it with large open arms.
"It's good to give the players different options and financial services is so broad and varied. Once you have a foot in the door and found a firm who will nurture and look after you then you can work your way up and gain different qualifications."
