ABI’s Braun awarded OBE for services to pensions
Yvonne Braun, director of policy for long-term savings, health and protection at the Association of British Insurers trade body has been awarded an OBE in the King’s Birthday Honours list.
The OBE has been awarded in recognition of her services to the pensions industry and socio-economic diversity.
Ms Braun leads the ABI’s strategy and policy across long-term savings, health and protection insurance.
She pioneered the ABI’s cross-sector Pensions Dashboard pilot, a digital prototype designed to reconnect people with almost £27bn in unclaimed pensions, with the full service scheduled to reach savers in 2026.
During the Coronavirus pandemic she led the sector’s charitable £100m Covid-19 Support Fund.
She said: “I am deeply honoured to receive an OBE for services to the pensions industry and socio-economic diversity. Our sector’s purpose to help people achieve a financially secure retirement has never been more important, and to achieve it, our sector must truly reflect the customers we serve.
“My heartfelt thanks go to all members of my teams – I have been incredibly fortunate to work with such talented and motivated colleagues.”
Other members of financial services to receive an OBE in the Birthday Honours list include Julia Hoggett, CEO of the London Stock Exchange, and Capital One CEO Luct-Marie Hagues.
Mark Tucker, chairman of HSBC, was also awarded a Knighthood for services to the economy.
This year’s King’s Birthday Honours list saw 1077 people honoured earlier this month on the monarch’s official birthday.
The honours are awarded by the King following recommendations by the Prime Minister of other senior government ministers.
Members of the public can also recommend people for an award who have made significant achievements in public life and/or committed themselves to serving and helping Britain.
