Building society snaps up ex-footballer's Planner firm
Newcastle Financial Advisers, the advice arm of Newcastle Building Society, has acquired the Keith Dyson Financial Consultancy for an undisclosed sum.
The acquisition of the Hexham-based advice firm adds over 300 Financial Planning clients to Newcastle Financial Advisers.
The eponymous firm was founded by former Newcastle United footballed Keith Dyson.
Mr Dyson moved into financial services in 1994 and for 30 years has provided pensions, life assurance and investment advice to clients throughout the North East.
Mr Dyson began his career with Newcastle United in 1968, playing as a forward. He made 76 league appearances over three years and scored 22 goals. He later joined Blackpool but after scoring 30 goals in 94 appearances had to retire due to a knee injury. He coached in the US for a period later and then returned to the UK to manage Lancaster City for three years up to 1982.
He said that one of the attractions of Newcastle Building Society’s offer was how the building society continued to invest in their in-person branch offering.
Keith Dyson said: “While other banks and building societies are closing branches, Newcastle Building Society are growing and investing in theirs. For my clients, Newcastle Financial Advisers Limited’s footprint means more locations for them to access in-person financial advice services, and I am confident they will be well looked after under the new ownership.”
Newcastle Building Society introduce clients to Newcastle Financial Advisers, who provide accessible advice on investment, retirement, inheritance tax planning and protection advice through the building society’s network of 32 branches across the North East, Cumbria and North Yorkshire.
Iain Lightfoot, managing director of Newcastle Financial Advisers, said: “We’re pleased to be able to welcome Keith Dyson Financial Consultancy’s clients to Newcastle Financial Advisers Limited. Over the past 30 years Keith has nurtured a flourishing business and his focus on building meaningful, long-lasting relationships with clients is one that very much aligns with our own.”
Newcastle Financial Advisers is an appointed rep of the Openwork network.
