Canadians learn value of advice in Financial Planning Week
This week marks Financial Planning Week in Canada, a campaign to make Financial Planning part of Canadians’ lives.
Similar to the UK version of the Financial Planning Week, the goal is to raise awareness of Financial Planning and enact meaningful change for the benefit of all Canadians.
This is the third year that Financial Planning Week has been held in Canada.
The theme of the week is Vision 2020, the hope that by the year 2020 Canada becomes a nation of organisations that value Financial Planning and has a viable and trusted Financial Planning profession.
Cary List, president and chief executive of Financial Planning Standards Council, said: “We are in a unique position to highlight the need for and contribute to a heightened effort to enact change for all Canadians. Every stakeholder- individuals, industry, regulators, educators and others- needs to be part of the solution.”
The FPSC also hopes that by 2020 every high school graduate has received introductory Financial Planning and that there is a regulatory environment that provides support for employers and individuals adopting the values of Financial Planning.
Events during the week include a Financial Planning symposium, financial basics workshops, sessions in local schools and Financial Planning ‘check-ups’.
Topics are wide-ranging and include health and wealth preservation, retirement, Financial Planning for small businesses, stock markets and Financial Planning for professionals.
The UK Financial Planning Week will take place from 21-27 November.
