Chartered Planner backs stand-up comedy night for brain charity
Guildford-based Chartered Financial Planning firm Chapters Financial is to sponsor a local stand up comedy night to raise funds for a brain injury charity.
The Gag House Comedy club will be staging the Headway Gag House Comedy Club night to raise funds for Surrey charity Headway at Guildford’s Harbour Hotel on Thursday, 5 October .
Headway provides support and services for those affected by brain injury across Surrey and the special event, sponsored by Chapters Financial, will see all proceeds going to support the work of Headway.
Gag House Comedy Club has assembled some of the best up and coming comics from the UK comedy circuit including Mark Felgate, Javier Jarquin and Mark Dolan as well as headliners ‘The Raymond and Mr Timpkins Revue’ who, according to the comedy club, “simply have to be seen to be believed.”
Gag House comedy director Nick Wyschna says: “Ever since setting up Guildford Fringe in 2012, raising money for local charities has always been very important to me. I was made aware of the wonderful work that Headway Surrey do by one of our sponsors.
“I am so happy that we are able to help, even in a small way, by putting on this Comedy Club specifically to raise much needed funds for the charity: every penny of the ticket sales is going directly to Headway and this is made possible because of the sponsorship from local business, Chapters Financial. I really hope to see a full room at The Harbour Hotel, sharing laughter whilst raising money for this fantastic local charity.”
Chartered Financial Planner Keith Churchouse FPFS CFPTM, owner of Chapters Financial in Guildford and Chair of the Trustees of Headway Surrey, said: “We’re delighted to be supporting this very worthwhile charity night for a very good cause. We hope it will raise lots of money and lots of laughs too.
“We’d love to see anyone in the region coming along to support it to. It should be an excellent evening of entertainment. A big thanks goes to Guildford Fringe, the organisers, for all of their hard work and energy in bringing this event together with such fabulous acts ”
The acts include Mark Felgate, whose startling abilities as a ventriloquist, combined with guitar playing and a wickedly daft sense of humour, have helped him become a sought after act on the stand-up comedy circuit. Performing without a dummy, he throws his voice to routines on school life, drunks and pallbearers and the vagaries of censorship.
Javier Jarquin moved to the UK after winning So You Think You’re Funny in New Zealand, having played and headlined some of the biggest clubs in Australia and New Zealand. He has performed on the same bill with top names such as Jimmy Carr, Stewart Lee, Jo Brand and Paul Daniels.
Comedian, broadcaster and writer Mark Dolan has just emerged unscathed from a stint on Channel 4’s The Jump. Best known as host of Channel 4’s iconic comedy series Balls of Steel, Mark also fronted three hit series of globetrotting documentaries for C4 (The World’s ...and Me) – in which he met the most extraordinary people on the planet, including the smallest man, tallest woman, richest teenager, cleverest child and the owner of the world’s largest breasts!
The Raymond and Mr Timpkins Revue are one of the “maddest, silliest, stupidest, cleverest, strangest and everything else-ist as well as the funniest double act of comedians on the circuit.”
