Chartered Planner joins Thomas Westcott
Chartered Financial Planner Simon Valentine-Marsh has joined Thomas Westcott Chartered Accountants as the firm continues to expand its Financial Planning.
Mr Valentine-Marsh joined Thomas Wescott from Barnstaple based financial planning firm Philip J Milton & Company Plc, where he spent nearly 13 years. He previously worked for Prudential Assurance.
He is a Chartered Financial Planner and Fellow of the Personal Finance Society and is based in the firm’s Exeter office.
Over the past seven years, Thomas Westcott has doubled the size of its Financial Planning division based over a network of offices across the South West.
Thomas Wescott has also launched a new Business Resilience and Protection service to respond to increased demand for business protection advice during the Coronavirus pandemic. It provides businesses with a full review of their risks and advice on protective measures, ranging from insurance to restructuring the business.
Mr Valentine-Marsh said: “As one of the South West’s largest accountancy practices, with a team of expert financial planners serving clients across the region, Thomas Westcott offers me the perfect opportunity to expand my knowledge and develop my skills.
“I was particularly attracted by the firm’s holistic approach to advising clients, bringing in the expertise of specialists from across the financial planning and accountancy teams to offer the very best advice to businesses and individuals.”
Thomas Westcott offers independent financial planning advice on issues including estate planning, wealth management and retirement planning. The Financial Planning team works closely with the firm’s accountants, who cover a range of specialisms, including tax and corporate finance.
Iain Andrews, partner and head of Financial Planning at Thomas Wescott, said: “With nearly 20 years’ financial planning experience, Simon is ideally placed to help us continue to grow.
“I am delighted to be expanding the team to meet the increasing demand we are seeing for our integrated services, which combine our expertise in financial planning and accountancy. In a fast-changing world, people still value face-to-face advice and there are significant advantages for our clients in having both accountancy and financial planning services under one roof. Putting clients first and being by their side when they need us is our core focus.”
