Chartered planner strives to fight disease that killed boy
A Chartered Financial Planner has joined the fight to find cures for two devastating diseases after one claimed the life of a 12 year-old boy.
Tamsin Caine FPFS of Smart Financial in Altrincham has embarked on a three-part challenge to raise £1,000 for the Alex Hulme Foundation and Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
The foundation was set up after Alex Hulme, 12, died of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. The family are based in Sale, close to where Ms Caine is based and Alex’s father coaches rugby at the same club as she does.
Ms Caine CFPTM Chartered MCSI has completed half marathons in Wilmslow and Manchester – the latter of which took place shortly after the suicide attack at the Ariana Grande concert. Ms Caine said this had made it an even more emotional day.
Her last challenge is the Cheshire half marathon on 8 October.
She is hoping fellow Financial Planners will back her bid to reach her fundraising target.
I've entered the Cheshire Half Marathon for more fund raising. I'd love your support in any way you can. https://t.co/XcaKuiChRg

Ms Caine said: “The Alex Hulme Foundation funds research into this dreadful disease with the aim being to avoid other families having to suffer the grief that they have. I am proud to call them friends and want to do my bit to help Alex's legacy.
“I chose the Cystic Fibrosis Trust in support of the brilliant family that I work for, who's son Harry has this condition. Anyone who has watched a child with CF work their way through the mountain of tablets they need just to eat a meal will understand why this is vital research.”
She said: “Just to see it first hand what he’s going through, you think ‘if there’s anyway this illness can be stopped I have to help’.
“It definitely spurs you on for training and you don’t want to let down the people who are sponsoring you and you have a responsibility to do the best you can.”
She said she is “training like a trooper” for the last race.
