The Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment, the professional body for Certified Financial Planners, is asking members to help mark its 30th anniversary year which begins today.

The body is inviting its global membership and stakeholders to help mark this milestone.

The not-for-profit body emerged from the London Stock Exchange in 1992 with a 4,800, UK membership. Today it has 45,000 members in over 100 countries.

The CISI’s membership covers wealth management, Financial Planning and capital markets and the body works with regulators in over 70 jurisdictions, providing 40,000 exams a year.

The CISI said it was delighted that stock exchanges around the world will help mark this important 30^th anniversary during their opening and closing ceremonies today (Thursday 10 February 2022). 

The professional body is encouraging partners and members to share the social media celebrations. 

CISI key milestones across 30 years

• Formation in 1992 from the London Stock Exchange as the Securities Institute.
• Securities & Investment Institute becomes Chartered in 2009.
• In March 2010 “My Word Is My Bond” becomes the CISI official motto.
• March 2011, CISI opens its Operations and IT hub in Colombo, now employing 75 staff
• In March 2012 the CISI makes its integrity test mandatory for members and mandatory for all exam candidates in 2013.
• The Institute of Financial Planning merges with CISI in 2015.
• The CISI joins the new Chartered Body Alliance on its formation in March 2017.
• The CISI’s first membership and sector survey on mental health and stress in December 2018, launching its financial services sector mental health portal in 2019.
• The CISI’s global exams by remote invigilation are announced in January 2021.
• The CISI launched its App in September 2021.
