CISI Paraplanner Conference to stay virtual in 2022
The annual CISI Paraplanner Conference will remain as a virtual event in 2022 for the third year in a row, the professional body has confirmed.
The two day conference, the biggest Paraplanning event in the UK, was an online event for the second year in a row this year due to the pandemic.
The event this year was judged a success with 277 attendees - double the number attending traditional in-person events in previous years.
Next year's two-day event will take place online from 18-19 May 2022.
More than 200 attended the CISI’s first online Paraplanner conference in 2020 including delegates from 26 countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Nigeria, Cyprus, Switzerland and India.
The online format allows more overseas Paraplanners to attend the event and is popular with UK Paraplanners. The format also avoid the common delays to live events due which have to be pushed back due to intermittent government restrictions.
The event, which was launched by the Institute of Financial Planning over 10 years ago, was continued by the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment when it merged with the IFP.
Next year will be the third year in a row the event has been held as a virtual event in a sign that online events are here to stay.
The conference theme this year was ‘Managing the Mix’ and looked at the behind-the-scenes role of the Paraplanner” in Financial Planning.
Speakers this year included Mark Goold, senior associate, Financial Conduct Authority, Sally Plant, CISI head of Financial Planning and Chartered Paraplanner Pippa Oldfield, winner of the CISI Paraplanner of the Year Award 2020.
A stream session on Excel was hosted by Judith Rowe, Microsoft Office trainer, and there was also be an ethics session featuring real-life dilemmas from the CISI’s professional standards and ethics manager, Amrita Bhogal.
