Fiducia restarts financial education initiative
Chartered Financial Planner firm Fiducia Wealth Management has restarted its financial literacy educational programme.
The programme aims to help children to better understand the finance industry.
The Essex-based Financial Planner delivers educational presentations to secondary school students on how they can use their money better to achieve their goals.
The presentations also encourage students to think about the finance sector as a possible career path.
Last week Fiducia co-owner Susie Laws visited Year 13 students of Chelmsford County High School for Girls to deliver the first school session since the start of the Coronavirus pandemic.
The firm has more school visits planned for next year.
Ms Laws said: "We teach our young people how to work out the area of a triangle but not what a mortgage is, or how to save for a deposit for their first house, or how to save for their retirement. To me this makes no sense, so teachers, please feel free to reach out.
“Whilst finance isn't fun for everyone, there are some pretty fun facts, engaging the children with finance will only help bridge the lack of financial knowledge for the next generation as they begin their working lives in the next few years.”
Fiducia underwent a management buyout last year.
The majority of the Essex-based business is now owned by directors Susie Laws and Gordon Kearney, after founder and executive chairman John Millican sold a majority stake in 2020.
The cost of the deal has not been disclosed.
Fiducia was established in 2006 and achieved Chartered status in 2019.
