Financial Planning Week 2011 under way
The IFP's consumer-focused education campaign Financial Planning Week 2011 was launched today (Monday 21 Nov).
The campaign to promote Financial Planning will run from 21-27 November and is organised by the Institute of Financial Plannin to promote the benefits of Financial Planning to consumers. It's a mostly PR-led campaign.
Some firms started the campaign last week with Steve Taylor CFPCM and Louise Oliver CFPCM from Taylor Oliver in Chesterfield holding an advice session to raise money for charity Neurocare. They will be holding another on the 24 November. There are a range of events happening over the week from workshops, free advice sessions and financial healthchecks and interviews in newspapers and radio. A list of events is now available on the IFP website.
The IFP is urging all firms to get involved and help to promote Financial Planning and its benefits, not just businesses but what consumers can do on their own.
Nick Cann, chief executive of the IFP, said: “It’s great to see the profession working together for the benefit of consumers in this way.
“I’d encourage all IFP members to consider what they can do to help us raise the profile of the profession with the media and most importantly, with consumers.”
The event is well supported by financial services companies such as Defaqto, Seven Investment Management, Friends Life and Zurich.
Key details from the IFP’s latest consumer survey are being released next week to reveal findings about the financial habits of the nation.
There will be a Financial Planning Week website alongside much coverage on Facebook and Twitter. The hashtag to use for Twitter is #FPW2011.
Sue Whitbread, communications director at the IFP, said: “We will be actively using Twitter. We were blown away by the success of it last year. The number of retweets took us into areas that would have been very hard to penetrate ourselves and gave real breadth to the PR campaign.”
