Ben Surtees, a former fund manager at Jupiter Asset Management, has joined Westminster-based IFA firm Thomson Tyndall.
He spent 20 years at Jupiter Asset Management, where he served as a portfolio manager specialising in Asia ex Japan equities.
He retrained as a financial adviser in 2019, joining Cheltenham-based Warner Matthews Asset Management as an adviser.
Thomson Tyndall is an IFA and investment management firm offering whole of market advice to private clients, charities and business. It was founded in 2016.
Mr Surtees will provide bespoke financial advice to families and business from Midhurst, Sussex.
At Thomson Tyndall he plans to help local residents navigate the significant Inheritance Tax changes to both Agricultural Property Relief and personal pensions.
As Midhurst is home to a significant farming community, Mr Surtees said he was particularly concerned about those who will be affected by the IHT relief changes, as well as those who might consider themselves ‘comfortably off’ but may be caught unaware by new pensions legislation.
He is also looking to build partnerships with local accountants and solicitors.
Mr Surtees said: “My goal is to ensure that the people of Midhurst and the surrounding areas are prepared for 2027. With the right planning, we can help protect the legacies many local families have worked so hard to build.”
