Half of advisers want Brexit but others unsure - poll
A survey of users by adviser technology company Intelliflo has found that half would welcome the UK leaving the EU with nearly two thirds (62%) saying it would have a positive or neutral impact on the long term future of the UK.
Just over a third (34%) say that they want the UK to remain part of the EU and 38% fear that leaving the EU will have a negative effect.
The survey of 169 Intelliflo users also found that one in six (16%) were still undecided about whether to leave the EU or remain.
When questioned about the impact on their business, 37% said leaving would have no impact, 22% said the impact would be positive and 17% said it would be negative.
About one in four (24%) say they do not understand enough about the issues yet to have a firm opinion.
When asked about the impact on their clients, 21% said they believed it would have an impact on their client’s wealth but in the “short term only” with one in 10 saying it would have a negative impact in the medium to long term.
Some 20% said they did not believe leaving would affect their clients’ wealth and 18% believed it would have a positive impact. Another 29% were unsure.
Nick Eatock, Intelliflo’s executive chairman, said: “With three months to go to the vote it’s clear there are many advisers who are still in the process of weighing up the benefits of staying or going. However, with half of those we polled saying they will vote ‘no’, it looks like the ‘yes’ campaign have got their work cut out over the coming weeks.”
Intelliflo surveyed users between 7-22 March 2016 and received 169 responses.
