IFP corporate member hires new executive manager
A new executive general manager has been appointed by an IFP corporate member to strengthen its lending team.
IRESS, which deals with wealth management, mortgage and financial markets systems in the UK, has appointed Paul Thornton.
He most recently worked as UK Sales Director for iPipeline as part of a 15 year career in financial services and takes on the newly created role of Executive General Manager (Lending).
Reporting directly to Simon Badley, IRESS UK managing director, he will assume the position from January 2015 and will be responsible for leading sales strategy and implementation within IRESS' lending division.

His appointment is part of a strategy to strengthen IRESS' lending team at a pivotal time in the mortgage market, as lenders continue to seek new and innovative ways to enhance distribution, reduce costs and come to terms with regulatory change following the MMR.
Mr Thornton said: "IRESS is one of the key fin-tech players, and it is a great time to be joining the company. Regulatory change, reduced costs and securing distribution are just some of the challenges facing lenders. IRESS' clear strategy in the lending sector means I am excited about what the next year has to bring and look forward to helping clients meet their aims."
Mr Badley said: "We are thrilled to announce Paul's appointment, and his new role will underpin the strength of our lending team. Paul brings a wealth of experience and is a passionate financial services specialist, so we are excited to have him come on board.
"He will be an invaluable support in delivering the best possible client support as lenders continue to adapt to market opportunities and challenges."
