When did you last read the IFP Code of Ethics? As a member, you agree to work in accordance with its principles so it's important you know what these are.
In March, IFP chief executive Nick Cann was the speaker at the Chester and North Wales Branch meeting, on the topic of Ethics in Financial Planning.
During his session, it became clear that some members were not exactly familiar with the seven general principles underpinning the code and more work was needed. The principles are:
- Placing the client's interest first
- Integrity
- Objectivity
- Competence
- Confidentiality
- Courtesy
- Diligence
With Ethics a core part of planners' CPD for 2013, re-reading the code is the ideal place to find out where you need more CPD.
