Cotswold branch welcomed Damien Rylett from Brunel Capital Partners which Damien set up with colleagues in 2011 to provide lifestyle Financial Planning, writes branch chairman Diane Weitz CFPCM.
Using Paul Armson as a mentor he has embraced the 'three hats' approach to financial planning; lifestyle planning; cashflow analysis and implementation. The principal aim of the approach is to provide clients with the peace of mind to enable them to reach their objectives.
Damien gave a useful insight about how the first meeting is positioned to coach clients into seeing enough value in the strategy to feel comfortable about paying fees. He also stressed that, for this to work, the planner also needed to be confident in their value. The presentation was clear and informative and prompted a lively discussion.

Our second speaker was John Clarke from the progressive investment management company GHC. John is an excellent speaker who has an ability to cut out the noise from the media and hone in on what is actually happening in global markets.
His comprehensive summary included how the current unrest in the Ukraine is likely to impact on world markets. The discussion afterwards centred around risk and we hope to invite John back to follow up on this.
Thanks to both speakers, Investec for hosting the meeting and GHC for providing sponsorship.
