IFP corporate member profile: Architas
Architas is a leading investment company that draws on rich in-house research to deliver multi-manager solutions.
We pride ourselves on our clear investment philosophy and robust investment process but are aware of the difficulties that can face many Financial Planners when it comes to selecting funds for their clients. Accordingly, we offer a complete suite of diversified, risk-rated multi- asset funds to suit a spectrum of investors – a Multi-Asset Active range, a Multi-Asset Passive Range and a Multi-Asset Blended Range – overseen by our chief investment officer, Caspar Rock.
All three ranges are guided by a strategic asset allocation model provided by eValue FE, but the application of the model varies by range as explained below. The model has a 15-year time horizon and 14 different asset classes can be used.

The Multi-Asset Active range is managed by Caspar and Stephanie Carbonneil. This range of six funds aims to deliver the greatest alpha but does have the highest OCF (Ongoing Charges Figure – the new name for the TER) of our three ranges. Caspar and Stephanie take tactical asset allocation decisions based on Architas' in-house views ensuring each fund stays within the volatility boundaries of its relevant risk profile. We also have a strong investment team devoted to meeting managers and recommending and monitoring funds.
The Multi-Asset Passive Fund range is managed by Stephen Allen. These funds aim to track the eValue asset allocation model: Steve ensures that the funds remain within close tolerance of their benchmarks and aims to select the passive instruments that are the best and cheapest available. These funds do not have an active asset allocation policy and have the lowest OCF of our three ranges.
For investors who wish to combine lower cost with 'active' investment, the Multi-Asset Blended range is managed by Sheldon Macdonald. The portfolios combine a degree of tactical asset allocation and our best active fund selections to harness some potential outperformance with passive vehicles. The result is a range which aims for greater performance than our exclusively passive portfolios but with lower costs than our active portfolios.
Whatever your or your clients' priorities and risk attitudes, we believe we have a fund for you.
