IFP corporate member profile: Nucleus
Nucleus is trying to turn financial services upside down. That's all. The platform was set up by seven founding adviser firms led by our CEO David Ferguson in 2006 in anticipation of the changes facing the retail financial services sector.
The move away from packaged, commission-led products sold by life assurance companies toward a transparent, service-oriented model created an opportunity for Nucleus to put the client and the adviser centre stage.
We've achieved a lot in eight years. Our assets under administration have reached £7bn and we look after the clients of over 500 adviser firms - adding 65 new firms during 2013 – representing around 1,600 financial advisers in the UK. This year we were voted the CoreData best medium sized platform for the second year running. Nucleus is the UK's first and only adviser-built wrap platform. We speak to advisers continually to understand how they work. It's real time, live feedback. We facilitate
thousands of conversations over the year to make sure we deliver the very best experience, including:
5 regional user sessions twice a year for anywhere between 50-100 users at a time – vital to know what works and what doesn't and to ensure the on-going success of the platform.
6 regionally-based practice management groups aimed at business owners four times a year to give them the opportunity to meet their peers, share best practice and develop their business.
2 platform development groups with usually 15-20 advisers who have an opportunity to influence future platform development. We also frequently canvas our audience to find out how people feel about using us. In our most recent survey 94%
of respondents said that Nucleus has met their expectations and 94% said they would recommend Nucleus to a fellow adviser.
This year is off to a great start and we're excited by the ideas we're working on. Last year we embarked on a development programme to build a new platform for the future – one that will allow us to take a significant step forward and create an infrastructure that allows us to scale the business over the next decade. But this is just the beginning of what we have planned.
