Lancashire and Cumbria members look at global megatrends
The Lancashire and Cumbria June branch meeting was kindly sponsored by Pictet. The presentation from their UK North sales manager Paul Bowen gave an insight into 'global megatrends' and how the impact of these shapes Pictet's investment strategy.
Delegates then proceeded to focus on personal development, specifically developing inter-personal skills to enhance their effectiveness in business, through discovering more about neuro-linguistic programming (NLP), with speaker Jimmy Petruzzi, from the NLP Centre of Excellence. In his presentation to the branch, Jimmy explained that NLP is a set of insights and skills with which individuals can actively use to develop their mind, emotions and body to run their lives more successfully and to communicate with other people with 'extraordinary' effectiveness.
Delegates enjoyed the interactive exercises which demonstrated how members can use NLP to enhance their businesses and personal processes to achieve their desired result:
Do whatever you already do reasonably well, even better acquire skills and attitudes to do.
What you cannot do right now, but would like to be able to do
think more clearly.
Communicate more effectively with others.
Manage your thoughts, moods and behaviours more effectively.
Attendees took the opportunity to network with like-minded professionals during the coffee break between speakers and to share best practice over drinks kindly provided by Pictet after the meeting.
