Manchester members welcome George Kinder
THE IFP’s Manchester branch welcomed another bumper attendance for the appearance of the internationally-renowned George Kinder as the speaker at its March meeting.
In his session called “Life Planning, inspiring clients to take action,” George described how many planners had until now used outdated techniques and explained why he believes that the kind of Financial Planning which does not give full consideration to the client’s life goals is not good financial planning.
He touched on how financial life planning was a commercially viable method of running a scalable business and, despite the frequent fears of planners, how willingly clients would engage with the process. By outlining the client delivery process, interview by interview, most often used by financial life planners he clearly showed how planners can build the most effective bond of trust with clients and how they then build the financial plan around the dreams of a client’s life.
Feedback from delegates was extremely positive. Value was clearly gained from the session, with plenty of thought provoking, practical ideas and tips provided.
Branch chairman Steve Martin CFPCM commented: “This is another fantastic event put on for members of the IFP, free of charge, as part of the strong IFP branch network. Throughout the last year we have concentrated on inviting speakers to our branch meetings who are able to help our members develop the soft skills which are such an essential as part of the job.
“There is no other environment where this is taught to the same extent and we’ve had great feedback – as well as good attendance. I cannot believe that anyone who listened to George speak still believes that Financial Planning is all about the numbers. It’s so much more than that.
“In my own practice we barely discuss the hard facts with clients anymore and never discuss our platform choice yet our clients are happier than ever. And so, for that matter, are we! There are more outstanding sessions lined up and I hope that members will come along and join us.”
Also for those in the region, don’t forget the excellent programme from the new Lancashire and Cumbria branch which holds meetings in Preston.
