June's meeting for the IFP's East Midlands branch combined pensions with superheroes, reports branch chairman Gini Bolton CFPCM.
Lisa Webster, of Hornbuckle Mitchell, updated us on drawdown options, technicalities surrounding Scheme pensions and ideas around IHT considerations. Lisa is expecting the arrival of her second child within the next two months, so our timing was perfect! Lisa really knows her stuff and provided lots of useful information in answer to the number of technical questions raised by the audience.
Vicky Bailey, of Delphinus tmc then took delegates out of their comfort zone and thinking about how we can be a 'superhero'. She encouraged delegates to discuss with each other how they felt they had been a 'superhero' as well as a topic concerning them and how that affected their behaviour. While it made us uncomfortable, the feedback was great. Everyone has a task to do as a result of the session. A thought- provoking meeting and it will be interesting to hear feedback when we meet again at our next meeting.
