The May meeting of the Chester and North Wales Branch was a very informative session on the uses and benefits of social media and networking. The presenter was David Rowley of GHC Capital Markets and New Adviser Coach.
David stated that users of social media were looking for experts not friends. He then outlined and demonstrated the vast array of media available for use. As a result, many delegates realised that their reluctance to get involved with this important trend was partly a reflection of a lack of understanding and also their relatively small experience of media types themselves.
However, ignorance and age proved not to be a barrier to the embracing of this 'new' technology. David demonstrated that only a small amount of time needs to be set aside to update profiles and make use of the chosen media to ensure that planners have a presence that will be seen by new and younger potential clients.
Each attendee was able to leave the meeting with their very own QR code which could then be used on their stationery and website.
Branch chairman John Fachiri CFPCM said: "It is a testament to David that we've asked him to attend another meeting later in the year to take the subject matter further. All attendees could see that the use of social media will only increase in the years ahead."
