IFP members encouraged to make Financial Planning Week a success
A major campaign to make the public aware of the benefits of Financial Planning is just a month away.
Financial Planning Week, organised by the IFP, will be taking place from 23 to 29 November. Members have been strongly encouraged to take part by the IFP, which said they are all critical to its success.
Free Financial Planning surgeries will be one of the ways that members take part.
The IFP has published a register online of all firms offering the public access to these sessions, which are simply aimed at introducing people to the concept of Financial Planning.
These are not intended as free advice sessions, just to highlight some of the key steps that people need to take, for example setting goals and reviewing budgets.
Are you running a free surgery? Or are you getting involved by running another event of some kind? Let us know and we will publish the details in the next issue of Financial Planner magazine and online.

It is the seventh year the campaign has run and the 2014 event aims to:
• Raise consumer awareness of the benefits of Financial Planning
• Help IFP members and their firms to establish their brand directly with consumers as well as the personal finance media
• Show consumers the benefits of working with professional Financial Planners, in particular with CFPCM professionals and Accredited Financial Planning FirmsTM
• Help to build the profile of the Financial Planning profession with the media
IFP chief executive Steve Gazzard CFPCM said: "With another excellent annual conference behind us, it's time to get excited about the next highlight of the Financial Planning year – Financial Planning Week.
"We're working together as a profession to grab the media spotlight, show the general public what sound Financial Planning is all about, and how they can find a professional Financial Planner.
"We're working hard with Holt PR to spread the word among the national press, financial journalists and consumer lifestyle journalists too.
"Here's where we need from you. Please add your name to the list of those members offering free Financial Planning surgeries to the public for Financial Planning Week.
"It needn't be a big commitment, and there are lots of other ways you could get involved too.
"I do hope that you'll do so and help us to make this the most successful campaign to date. For more details please email This email address is being protected from spambots. The IFP suggested contacting local radio stations or business editors at regional newspapers to volunteer as a spokesperson, available to write on key planning themes.
