IFP President opens third Paraplanner Conference
Institute of Financial Planning president Rebecca Taylor FIFP CFPCM has welcomed delegates to the third Paraplanner conference.
The conference is being held today at the Chesford Grange Hotel in Warwick for 125 delegates.
Ms Taylor said she had two Paraplanners at her firm Dunham Financial Planning and because of this she was able to carry out her IFP duties knowing that her firm was in good hands. The two Paraplanners had different skills which complemented each other and meant Ms Taylor was not often required to be in the office.
She said that if she was starting in the industry now, she would have considered becoming a Paraplanner and that they should be regarded as equal to the Financial Planner role as it was just as important and valuable.
Financial Planner will be covering the conference and will be live-tweeting via @FPM_Online and covering key speakers on financialplanneronline.co.uk. All coverage will be available on our news pages and in the dedicated Paraplanning section of the website.
The conference is sponsored by IFP corporate member Seven Investment Management and there will be an exhibition area.
Speakers will include Justin Urqhuart Stewart from Seven Investment Management, Mark Polson from the lang cat and Michelle Hoskin from Standards International. Topics include operational best practice, communication skills, portfolio construction and tax.
There will also be outsourced and in-house Paraplanners giving their views on the industry and tips for success.
Cathi Harrison CFPCM from Para-Sols, Kim Bendall CFPCM from The Paraplanners and Claire Goodwin from Taylor Oliver will be sharing their experiences on working with financial advisers, both in-house and outsourced.
Following that, Rachel Styles from Cooper Parry, Charlene Edwards from Brunel Capital Partners and Abraham Okusanya from Finalytiq will be covering report writing.
The conference is accredited for 5.5 hours of structured CPD.
