IFP targets consumers with new campaign to promote Financial Planning
The IFP is urging more consumers to talk to Financial Planning firms about the ways they can combat the financial risks posed by rising retirement ages.
With the threat of a higher retirement age looming and life expectancy on the up, the IF is promoting its Accredited Financial Planning Firms’ register to consumers, highlighting those firms delivering excellence in Financial Planning as assessed by the professional body.
As part of the campaign, this month the IFP has launched its new web and mobile search facility which provides a quick and easy way for people to find Accredited Firms in the UK.
Consumers can text 84840 with the word ‘planner’ which will instantly provide the user with the nearest Accredited Firm to their location. Results will include company biographies, contact details and a link to their website.
Nick Cann, chief executive of IFP, said: “At a time when the country has been warned it faces financial ruin if the retirement age is not raised to match longer life expectancy, it is more important than ever that consumers carefully plan for their financial goals and seek professional advice.
“This groundbreaking register will help consumers to find a reputable firm whose services they can trust and have confidence in.
“A YouGov survey conducted as part of the Financial Planning Week 2011 campaign revealed that only 19% of respondents believe that they are saving enough to meet their future needs*. The fact remains that far too many consumers are not accessing help at a time when they need it most.
“A key aim of the IFP is to increase engagement between consumers and the leading firms. Accredited firms represent the leaders of the profession, demonstrating not only the highest professional qualifications but also the ultimate in client service. Each firm undergoes rigorous checks by IFP and must meet strict criteria.
“Consumers can thus be safe in the knowledge that these firms provide a consistent and trustworthy service delivered by individuals who will mostly be CFPCM professionals.
