UK inflation fell slightly from 2.4% to 2.3% in November bringing it to its lowest level since March 2017.
The Consumer Prices Index (CPI) figure included falling petrol prices, while food price rises slowed, according to latest figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
The moves were partially offset by rises in tobacco prices.
Elsewhere the figures showed CPIH was unchanged at 2.2% and RPI fell slightly from 3.3% to 3.2%.
ONS head of inflation, Mike Hardie, said: “Inflation was little changed as falling petrol prices, thanks to a substantial drop in the cost of crude oil, were offset by rises in tobacco prices following the duty changes announced in the Budget.
“House price growth continued to slow with the smallest annual rise seen in over five years, led by price falls across London.”
