BBC maths guru to speak at CISI Paraplanner Conference
Broadcaster, mathematician and author Hannah Fry has been unveiled as the keynote motivational speaker at this year’s CISI Paraplanner Conference.
The event on 17-18 June, will take place at the Crowne Plaza, Stratford-upon-Avon, during which Ms Fry will study the patterns of human behaviour and how mathematics can apply to them.
She is an associate professor in the Mathematics of Cities at the Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis at UCL and has presented several documentaries including for BBC Radio 4.
These include ‘Can Maths Combat Terrorism?’ and ‘Computing Britain’.
Her books include ‘The Mathematics of Love’ and ‘Hello World: How To Be Human in the Age of the Machine’.
The two-day Conference features 17 speakers and includes an evening drinks reception and dinner.
It will allow attendees to gain a total of eight structured CPD hours over the two days.

The CISI Paraplanner Conference will include sessions on How best to speak up without overstepping the mark presented by Cathy Stewart, principal, Cathy Stewart Associates, which will look at how to share ideas without putting people’s backs up and ensuring that your point is correctly heard.
Dee Cooper, director of Agar Management Consultancy will explore personality traits and how knowledge of ourselves can aid communication with others.
CISI Paraplanner of the Year Rebecca Tuck APP Chartered MCSI, of Magenta Financial Planning, will be sharing her career journey as a Paraplanner from when she started with a large wealth management firm in 2013.
The conference streams on ethics include a session run by Rebecca Aston, CISI’s head of Professional Standards examining a Financial Planning client dilemma, while Vicki Bakhshi, co-head of responsible investment, BMO GAM, will explore concepts and approaches related to ethical investing.
