Financial Planning Week pushed back to January
Financial Planning Week, the CISI-backed, consumer-focused annual consumer campaign, has been pushed back from October to mid-January.
The event is traditionally held each year in October and is designed to promote the benefits of Financial Planning to millions of UK consumers.
It means for the first time it will not coincide with World Financial Planning Day which takes place this year on 4 October.
The CISI Financial Planning Forum Committee, which represents the CISI’s Financial Planning members, made the change after “careful consideration,” the CISI said.
The forum believes mid-January will be a better time in the UK for the campaign as many consumers will be focusing on their finances after Christmas and considering end of year tax planning.
During Financial Planning Week each year many UK Financial Planners join in to run a series of initiatives to promote the benefits of Financial Planning to local and national communities. Events include free walk-in surgeries for members of the public, local campaigns and media articles, social media posts and social events.
A CISI spokesperson said: “After careful consideration and having consulted with the CISI Financial Planning Forum Committee, we have decided to shift the focus and timing of Financial Planning Week.
“Instead of October 2023, Financial Planning Week will now take place in mid-January 2024. The start of the year is a well-known time when people evaluate their goals and lifestyle choices, and we feel that moving Financial Planning Week to coincide with this period in the year will help maximize the uptake and benefit for both consumers and firms.”
The CISI said it would still be supporting World Financial Planning Day, an online campaign led by the global Certified Financial Planning body the Financial Planning Standard Board. The day aims to promote the benefits of Financial Planning worldwide via social media and the internet.
World Financial Planning Day 2023 aims to promote financial literacy and capability as well as the role Financial Planners can play in educating the public. World Financial Planning Day will run on 4 October, in partnership with IOSCO’s World Investor Week which runs from 2 to 8 October.
Financial Planners can visit www.worldfpday.org or join conversations on social media using the #WFPD2023 tag.
The FPSB is a global community of Financial Planning bodies representing over 213,002 Certified Financial Planning professionals worldwide, including about 1,000 in the UK.
