King Charles to become new Patron of the CII
King Charles III is to become the next Patron of the Chartered Insurance Institute, the professional body announced today.
He follows his mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, who was Patron of the CII for many years.
The CII said it was a “great honour” for the new King to continue a long line of Royal support for the Chartered Insurance Institute.
The Chartered Insurance Institute has 125,000 members, including 40,000 who are members of the Personal Finance Society, the professional subsidiary which awards the Chartered Financial Planner designation.
The CII has a long association with the Royal family which began with King George V granting the CII’s first Royal Charter in 1912.
King Charles’ mother Queen Elizabeth II, as patron, granted the CII a new charter in 1987.
Dr Helen Phillips, chair of the CII Group Board said: “We would like to thank His Majesty for continuing to support and recognise the work of the CII across the insurance, Financial Planning and mortgage advice professions.
“We are looking forward to the opportunities it presents to extend the benefit we can bring to individuals and societies around the world, consistent with our Royal Charter.”
