'I want planners bouncing out of bed with pizzazz'
The author of a new book wants to get Financial Planners bouncing out of bed every morning ready to deliver a “bucket load of punch and pizzazz” to clients.
Michelle Hoskin, the founder and director of Standards International, which trains planners, has penned The Little Book of Woww – Wowing by Design.
She has launched it on tour to Australia and New Zealand at an event run by the Million Dollar Round Table, an association of financial professionals.
Asked what Financial Planners can gain by reading it, Ms Hoskin told Financial Planning Today: “Everything - and you think I’m joking! I want planners to be bouncing out of bed every morning because of the bucket load of punch and pizzazz that they are hand delivering into the lives of each and every one of their clients.
“It’s not rocket science but packing in little moments of ‘wow’ really make the difference.
“The book is about injecting some energy and five star sparkle into today’s ‘compliant heavy’ client experience and journey.
“It is aimed at Financial Planners who want to deliver a ‘wow’ client experience but quite simply don’t know where to start.”

She has co-written it with Mike Morrow, a Canada based Certified Financial Planner.
She said: “I’ve known Mike for about three years. We met at an MDRT annual meeting in Philadelphia in 2013. Through the wonders and social media especially Facebook we have kept in touch and followed each other on our travels as we both do our bit to change the world.
“Having Mike contribute to the book was a natural choice as you need to have some guts to try some of these ideas and Mike certainly has that.
“Anyone who knows Mike will know that he is a one off and whilst sadly most planners think that adding in these moments of ‘wow’ are over the top – Mike doesn’t and never has. He oozes energy for doing those extra special things that his clients love him for forever.”
Ms Hoskin has already written two books and said there was more to come.
Best Practice Makes Perfect: 171 inspirational ideas to help achieve a perfect practice has sold over 1,500 copies, she said.
Ms Hoskin, a regular guest speaker at various financial services events, which has included the IFP Conference in recent years, said her talks on ‘The Future You’ are often the most popular.
She said: “This topic has always hit the spot because I believe that spending the time to focus on themselves even if it is just once will help them to see that if they too are on a mission to change the world. They may have to start with changing their own world first.”
The book officially launched on 1 February but will not be available to buy until 1 March.
